Actor Daniel Stern, famous for his role in Home Alone, has been cited by police for allegedly trying to hire a prostitute.
Police in Ventura County, California, say Daniel received a citation for soliciting prostitution on December 10, as per TMZ. This happened right during the Christmas season, when his Home Alone movies are usually popular on streaming platforms.
The incident took place in Camarillo, California, where Daniel was cited at a hotel in the area.
As per the Police report, Daniel wasn’t arrested or taken into custody. He was given a ticket, so there’s no mug shot available.
“From what I understand, he was cited at the location and released,” said Joey Buttitta spokesperson for Ventura County District Attorney.
If these allegations turn out to be true, Daniel was taking his famous Wet Bandit character from the movies a bit too seriously.
Realm Wire has contacted Daniel’s representatives for comment, but has not heard back yet.
Daniel Stern had a diverse career, making appearances on various shows such as Dilbert, Manhattan, Shrill, and For All Mankind.
Beyond his famous burglar role, Stern has appeared in numerous other films, including Diner, Hannah and Her Sisters, My Blue Heaven, and both City Slickers movies – the original and City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly’s Gold. His later work includes films like Very Bad Things, Whip It, and A Christmas Story 2, the 2012 sequel to another beloved holiday classic.
The actor is perhaps most recognized for his portrayal of Marv, one half of the “Wet Bandits” duo alongside Joe Pesci’s Harry, in the beloved 1990 family film Home Alone and its follow-up, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. In the sequel, Marv and Harry manage to break out of prison and encounter Macaulay Culkin’s character, Kevin, for a second time when the young boy once again ends up alone during the holiday season.
In both Home Alone movies, the character Marv endures some of the most brutal traps designed to protect Kevin, including stepping barefoot on a nail, getting hit in the face with a hot iron, being struck in the head with bricks, and surviving electrocution.
