Iranian army chief Amir Hatami on Saturday (January 31) warned the United States and Israel against attacking Iran, saying that the country’s forces are on high alert after Washington deployed heavy military forces in the Gulf. He added that his country’s nuclear technology “cannot be eliminated” after US President Donald Trump said that he expected Iran to seek a deal to avoid an attack by American forces.
The warning comes at a time of rising tensions between Iran and the United States. The Trump administration has been increasing pressure on Iran through sanctions and a stronger military presence in the region. Iran, in turn, has been accelerating its nuclear program, which Western nations believe could be used to develop nuclear weapons. The situation has drawn international attention, with many countries calling for diplomatic talks to avoid a potential military conflict.
“If the enemy makes a mistake, without a doubt it will endanger its own security, the security of the region, and the security of the Zionist regime,” said Hatami as per the official IRNA news agency. He added that Iran’s armed forces were “at full defensive and military readiness.”
Iran has long maintained that its nuclear program is meant for peaceful purposes, such as generating energy. However, the United States and Israel have repeatedly expressed concerns that Iran could use the program to build nuclear weapons. With heavy US military forces now stationed in the Gulf, many analysts fear that the risk of a direct confrontation between the two nations is growing.
Hatami further said, “The nuclear science and technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran cannot be eliminated, even if scientists and sons of this nation are martyred.”
These strong words suggest that Iran has no intention of backing down in the face of US pressure. As tensions continue to rise, the world watches closely to see whether diplomatic efforts can prevent a potential military clash between the two powers.
