Three firefighters from Washington state went above and beyond their usual duties to help a local resident after their grocery delivery was derailed by a car accident.
Central Pierce Fire & Rescue, which covers several communities in Washington including Puyallup, Orting, Parkland, Spanaway, South Hill, Frederickson, Graham, and Kapowsin, shared the heartwarming story on Facebook.
According to the department’s post, on Friday, January 9, the Rescue 66 team was called out to a car crash involving a driver who had been delivering groceries through Instacart. Although the driver walked away without any injuries, the damage to their vehicle was severe enough that it had to be towed leaving them with no way to finish the delivery.
Rather than let the customer go without their groceries, three members of Rescue 66 took it upon themselves to personally deliver the order.
“It was a small gesture that made a big difference for a grateful community member and a reminder that serving our community sometimes means going beyond emergency response,” the post said.
The department shared a photo of the three firefighters grinning as they held paper grocery bags, and the post quickly drew a wave of praise from the public.
“Now that’s what we call ‘special opps.’ Way to go CPFR,” one commenter wrote.
Another added, “That is amazing!! Thank you Rescue 66 for going above and beyond for our community members.”
A third chimed in, “Great job keep up the good work.”
